FIRE & EMS: PARAMEDIC POSITIONS (PER DIEM)
The Town of Newport is accepting resumes / applications for diem paramedic positions. We are looking for energetic and motivated individuals who possess the ability to adapt to multiple emergency and administrative duties. The positions are to provide adequate staffing for our new Newport Fire Ambulance Service which will become active once adequate personnel are hired. Consideration shall be extended to applicants currently enrolled in a paramedic program, or who are EMT Advanced. Applicants will also work in the Fire service with preference given for certifications in Firefighter 1 & 2. Position: Animal Control Officer
The Town of Newport is seeking a dedicated and responsible Animal
Control Officer to enforce Municipal Ordinances and State of Maine Laws
related to animal control and welfare. This position involves frequent
interaction with the public and the handling of animals.
Position Summary:
The Animal Control Officer is responsible for investigating
complaints, responding to incidents involving domestic animals, enforcing
applicable laws and ensuring public safety and animal welfare. The role
requires sound judgment and the ability to work independently in challenging
situations.
This position works under the supervision of the Newport
Police Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Investigate complaints related to pets and animals
-Determine violations of state laws or municipal ordinances and take appropriate
enforcement action
-Capture, confine and transport animals as necessary
-Respond to reports of loose, stray, injured, or dangerous animals
-Issue warnings or citations to animal owners when warranted
-Appear in court as necessary
-Deliver captured animals to the appropriate shelter
Qualifications:
-Certification as an Animal Control Officer in the State of Maine within six months
-Ability to safely handle animals, including aggressive or injured animals
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
-Ability to work with the public in stressful or sensitive situations
